About bloody time!

Yes, I know it's been a long time coming but now I'm back in the blog seat.

Thanks to everyone who pressed the 'yes' button on my little poll!

I am ready to update everyone with my new and improved adventures in Taiwan...

Why the long wait?

Well lets just say that life got in the way..its been a very busy three..no wait...four months...I'll bring you up to speed soon...

First off though, our new gaff in Taipei is great!

Why? Coz it's down this road...

Which looks a bit rubbish....until you notice the rather large hill in the background...

That peak is called Dogs Head. It's 400mts high...

...and there's trails in them thar hills!

Mmm..maybe now its clear why I haven't posted recently...

There's quite nice views once you are up there...

The little red square indicates where our gaff is....higher than it looks from the ground eh?

This is Dogs Head rock...

There's carvings of dogs on it...

Here is a view looking toward the city...notice Taipei 101 way off in the distance..thats 1/2 kilometer tall that is...

Here's a close up...using zoom on my rather crap camera!

Thank goodness its nearly Christmas...hint..hint..

And this is the view from the other side, Wellington heights, where all the rich people live...

We used to be one of them...

The mountains of Yang Ming Shan national park are in the distance...on the other side of them is the coast...and on the coast is the beach!

Which we haven't been to yet...but it sounds flash doesn't it?

The thing is...as you can see we are surrounded by proper mountains.

Which means proper mountain biking...

And proper mountain biking is a bit...well...scary...

First of all because of the trails...

I'm told that this is rideabale, though I've yet to see anyone do it...

...and yes (Per, Paul, Tony, Phil, Smiffy, *insert as appropriate*) you probably are thinking 'I could do that!'

...but it's a lot steeper and rockier than my camera makes it out to be.....honest!

Even our dog is thinking...'how the hell do I get up there?'

And then there is the wildlife...such as this cute little squirrel...

But there's also horrifying stuff that you have to watch out for such as poisonous snakes and spiders...

...such as this one...

Now, yes it looks impressive in the photo...but you should see this thing in real life...

It's as big as my face!

If I rode into one of these and it attached itself to my head I would crash. Mainly because I wouldn't be able to see where I was going!

And then of course I would die because with my luck I would have ridden into this and gone over the bars...

And if the fall didn't kill me, then the spider probably would because its poisonous...

So, I have quite sensibly stayed at home and played Xbox360 for the last few months....

Except now my Xbox has stopped working....

...and I've promised to go ridding tomorrow....

Oh dear!

Not ridable up, or down? (or both)?

Can ride down la! Coz I have done some trail work that removes all the stuff you can get hung up on...

Hey dude!

I was interested in your comment on Wellington Heights and how you used to be one of the rich people who lived there. From 1966 to '70 I was a WH resident as well. Let's swap stories!
