I had a BRILLIANT! ride on Saturday. Probably the best mountain bike ride I've had since arriving here.
The reasons it was such a great ride were...
1, It was my first mountain bike ride in 2 weeks
2, Due to my increased "Roadiness" I totally kicked arse!
3, I got very muddy
4, My bike got very muddy
5, I fell off!, and didn't rupture my spleen during the process
6, I didn't break anything on my bike
7, I didn't get lost
We rode Santa Rosa and hit some singletrack that I hadn't been on before. It was a blast and I'm really getting used to the slimy mud. The trick is to choose your line carefully, keep the power even and don't use the brakes. Oh and I guess try not to fall off.....
We met up with some newbies and Leo decided to torture them (here they are having some fun)
They did extremely well and are probably taking the sensible line in this photo. This is how my bike looked after attempting to ride on the muddy bits.
Notice that the bike is standing up by itself! I had some serious chain suck after this.....
The good thing was that if it got too bad we could always get a lift on the local taxi service.
Mammal vs. Machine......

Good to see some things remain the same and some things change Dave.... example of change: you didn't break anything on your bike... example of no change: you fell off!
