WIth regards to 26 vs 29, I am no expert, but did demo a 29'er for a few hours. Surprisingly, I loved it! It was a Kona 2-9, which is a hardtail with 3-4 inch fork. Was able to climb stuff I can not clear on my full suss (26) Intense 6.6 or Giant NSR. That thing just rolled over roots and rocks, and made me forget I was on a hardtail.
